Access to Mount Fuji has now become more practical for climbers. Operator Fujikyu Bus has officially launched a night bus service connecting downtown Tokyo directly to the Yoshida Trail climbing point, aimed at eliminating transport hassles for tourists.
This service is scheduled to depart from the Shinjuku Busta terminal daily at 11:25 PM local time. The bus is scheduled to arrive at the Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station at 2:00 AM, allowing climbers time to acclimatize before the official trail opens at 3:00 AM.
In addition to convenience, this service is a crucial strategy for tourists to secure a climbing slot. Given that the Yoshida Trail implements a quota limit of a maximum of 4,000 climbers per day, the early morning departure allows visitors to arrive early and minimize the risk of being denied entry due to the quota being filled.
Financially, although the night bus fare is slightly higher than the daytime bus—starting from 5,500 yen for online bookings—tourists can still save on accommodation costs around the mountain. The service is planned to operate throughout the climbing season until September 9, 2026.
