Volcanic activity at Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, reportedly showed an increased intensity again on Monday (6/7/2026). The Volcano Monitoring Post (PGA) recorded a series of eruptions occurring from the early hours of the morning, indicating that the Standby status (Level III) remains in effect.
According to an official report by PGA Post officer Fransiskus Xaverius Masan, two significant eruptions were recorded between 00:00 and 06:00 WITA. These eruptions produced a grey ash column reaching heights of 500 to 1,000 meters. Peak activity then continued at 06:14 WITA, spewing a thick ash column 800 meters high toward the north and northeast.
Seismogram data showed a maximum eruption amplitude of 47.3 mm with varying eruption durations. Visually, crater smoke was observed to have weak pressure with thin intensity around the peak, but the threat of volcanic material remains a primary concern for local authorities.
In response to this situation, authorities strictly urge the public and tourists not to conduct any activities within a 5-kilometer radius from the eruption center. Residents are also asked to remain calm, comply with directions from local government, and ignore invalid information regarding the mountain's condition for mutual safety.
