Mount Semeru, located in East Java, has once again shown a significant increase in volcanic activity on Friday (10/7/2026). According to a report from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), six eruptions have been recorded since early morning.
The eruption spewed a column of volcanic ash reaching an altitude of approximately 1.3 kilometers above the crater peak. This eruption serves as an indicator that the highest mountain on Java Island remains in a phase of fairly intensive activity.
As of now, relevant authorities have set an alert status for Mount Semeru. Communities living around the mountain slopes are urged to remain vigilant and comply with all safety recommendations issued by authorities to anticipate potential hazards from pyroclastic flows and ash fall.
