Nayla Khairunnisa, a Tarung Derajat athlete who is the pride of West Kalimantan, has decided to prioritize higher education amidst her successful sports career. Nayla has officially joined Bina Sarana Informatika University (UBSI) Pontianak Campus as a new student through the Beasiswa Juara scholarship program.

Nayla made this decision so she could pursue a degree in the Informatics Study Program without giving up the world of martial arts that brought her fame. For her, education is a crucial long-term investment, given that a professional athlete's career has a competitive age limit.

Nayla's list of achievements is indeed impressive. The young athlete was recorded as a gold medalist at the National Tarung Derajat Championship held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora RI) in 2025. Additionally, she represented the West Kalimantan contingent at the 2025 Martial Arts PON in Kudus and has built a stellar track record since winning the West Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) back in 2022.

Student Affairs Coordinator at UBSI Pontianak Campus, Yoki Firmansyah, warmly welcomed Nayla's enrollment. He considers Nayla a role model for other students in terms of discipline and high fighting spirit. The campus is fully committed to facilitating the development of student potential, both academically and non-academically.

It is hoped that Nayla's step will inspire the younger generation in West Kalimantan, proving that education and sports can go hand in hand. With proper time management, a professional athlete can still pursue an academic degree as preparation to face the challenges of the workforce in the digital era.
