East Seram Regency (SBT), Maluku, has officially achieved Priority Universal Health Coverage (UHC) status. This designation was conferred by BPJS Kesehatan Ambon Branch following the region's success in ensuring all of its residents are registered under the National Health Insurance (JKN) Program.
According to the latest data, the membership coverage rate in this region has reached 100 percent, with an active participant rate of 92.57 percent, equivalent to 133,465 people out of a total population of 144,172. This achievement also serves as concrete proof of the local government's support for Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2022 regarding the optimization of the national health insurance program.
Head of BPJS Kesehatan Ambon Branch, Indira Azis Rumalutur, stated that Priority UHC status provides significant access ease for the public. One of the main benefits is that newly registered participants can immediately use healthcare services without undergoing a waiting period, allowing residents' medical needs to be handled more promptly.
Responding to this milestone, Regent of East Seram, Fachri Husni Alkatiri, stated that this status demonstrates the local government's real commitment to providing equal health protection for all levels of society. He emphasized that his administration will continue working to improve service quality and maintain active membership continuity in the region.
Moving forward, BPJS Kesehatan stated it will continue strengthening collaboration with various healthcare facilities in East Seram. This synergy aims to ensure that Priority UHC status is not merely a number, but truly impacts accessibility and improves the quality of health services for all local residents.
