The Tanjungpinang City Government, through the Health, Population Control, and Family Planning Office (Dinkes PPKB), officially launched the Free Health Check (CKG) program, targeting tens of thousands of students simultaneously starting Monday (3/8/2026). This strategic step was taken as a preventive measure to monitor and maintain the health of the younger generation from an early age.
This mass screening program targets a total of 49,343 students from elementary school (SD) to high school (SMA) equivalents, in both public and private schools. In detail, the CKG program reaches 150 schools in Tanjungpinang, covering 85 elementary schools with 24,487 students, 38 middle schools with 12,058 students, and 27 high schools with a total of 12,798 students.
The Head of the Tanjungpinang City Dinkes PPKB, Rustam, revealed that the screenings target children aged 7 to 17. Medical personnel from all local community health centers (Puskesmas) have been deployed to detect various potential health issues, such as vision impairment, ear health, cavities, symptoms of anemia, nutritional fulfillment issues, and indications of infectious and non-communicable diseases. This screening is expected to ensure that students' physical and mental conditions remain optimal so that they can participate in learning activities to their fullest potential.
On the first day of implementation, the Seijang Puskesmas was observed to have started screenings at SD Negeri 001 Bukit Bestari. In addition to general health checks, the Dinkes PPKB is also synergizing this activity with the School-Age Children Immunization Month (BIAS) program, which includes administering the Measles Rubella (MR) vaccine to grade I elementary school students and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to grade V female elementary school students.
