The Livestock and Fisheries Department of Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) Regency, South Sulawesi, has officially introduced E-Puskeswan, a digital service catalog innovation designed to optimize animal health services. This step was taken to provide easy access to information for the wider community, especially local livestock farmers.
The initiative, spearheaded by veterinarian Dr. Meidianti Sari, serves as an answer to the accessibility hurdles often faced by farmers. Previously, people had to travel long distances to the Puskeswan (Animal Healthcare Center) office or manually contact officers just to get information regarding vaccinations, health checks, medical treatments, or obtaining Animal Health Certificates (SKKH).
Through E-Puskeswan, all procedural details and service types are now packaged into an integrated digital catalog. The public can access this information anytime and anywhere via a practical s.id link as well as the official social media channels of the local Puskeswan.
The presence of this digital platform is also considered strategic in efforts to mitigate and control animal disease outbreaks in Sidrap Regency. With this convenient reporting system, the local government hopes that responses to the potential spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and cases of rabies-transmitting animal bites can be significantly improved through prompt field handling.
In addition to accelerating regional digital bureaucratic transformation, this innovation is expected to boost productivity in the livestock sector, which is one of the pillars of food security in Sidrap Regency. Active public participation in utilizing this facility is believed to have a positive impact on improving the welfare of local livestock farmers.
