The transportation infrastructure sector in Vietnam is currently undergoing a massive transformation phase. The local government continues to boost the completion of strategic national projects, ranging from the interconnected North-South expressway network, the development of high-speed railway plans, to the operation of urban railway lines (Metro) in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Increasing airport capacity and key logistics routes are also priorities to spur national economic growth.

In line with the agenda of the 19th National Party Congress, the government is committed to making breakthroughs in multimodal infrastructure development integrated with digital technology. The need for management efficiency, design, and precise construction methods demands the application of modern innovations. The use of artificial intelligence (AI), Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, drones, and environmentally friendly materials has now become crucial elements to reduce costs, accelerate project duration, and ensure long-term sustainability.

To formulate solutions to these challenges, the Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet newspaper organized an online seminar titled "Application of Technology in Transportation Infrastructure Investment and Development". This discussion brought together policymakers, technical experts, and industry players to dissect the current state of technology implementation in the transportation sector and seek strategic steps in promoting a more progressive digital transformation.

The event, which took place on July 14, featured a number of competent speakers, including Dr. Tran Huu Minh from the Ministry of Construction, high-speed rail project expert Mr. Hoang Minh Son, and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung from the FECON Underground Engineering Institute. This panel discussion is expected to generate recommendations for the development of smart and environmentally friendly transportation systems in line with the demands of global modernization.
