The Jambi Provincial Government has emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between the exploitation of natural resources and environmental preservation. This was stressed by the Regional Secretary of Jambi Province, Sudirman, during his attendance at the 2026 Jambi Province Business Economic Forum at the Swiss-Belhotel Jambi on Thursday (23/7/2026).

Initiated by the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia for Jambi Province, the event carried a strategic theme regarding the prospects of the regional energy sector. Discussions focused on the policy direction of the coal Work Plan and Budget (RKAB), increasing oil and gas lifting, and their impact on the local economy. The forum brought together representatives from the government, academia, business actors, and financial institutions to align fiscal policies.

Sudirman expressed his support for the forum as a collaborative platform to accelerate regional economic development. Nonetheless, he cautioned that steps to optimize the oil, gas, and coal sectors must not ignore ecological sustainability. He hoped the forum would generate concrete innovations to minimize potential environmental damage resulting from mining activities.

Looking ahead to the third quarter, the Jambi Provincial Government remains optimistic about the trend of regional economic growth. Although the regional inflation rate currently stands at 3.85 percent and economic growth is still around four percent, cross-sector synergy between the government, banking sector, and academia is believed to be capable of maintaining economic stability for continuous improvement.

Echoing these remarks, the Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for Jambi Province, Robby Fathir Nashary, explained that this forum is crucial for aligning perceptions in facing global and local economic challenges. BI hopes this interactive discussion will produce alternative solutions and targeted policy recommendations for the welfare of the community.
