PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA) made history in the national upstream oil and gas industry by implementing polymer flooding-based Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) technology. This innovation was introduced in a pilot project at the Rama Field, managed by Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Southeast Sumatra (PHE OSES), marking the first offshore CEOR implementation in Indonesia.
This strategic project is the result of a cross-entity synergy between SKK Migas, Pertamina, and Elnusa Group. The primary focus of this initiative is to increase the recovery factor in mature oil and gas fields while extending field production life to sustainably boost national oil lifting.
Within this operational ecosystem, Elnusa, through its subsidiary PT Elnusa Petrofin, plays a crucial role as an integrated solution provider. Their scope of responsibility includes polymer material supply, operation of the Polymer Injection Unit (PIU), and technical execution in the field. The inaugural polymer injection ceremony held on July 8, 2026, officially marked the start of the project's operational phase.
Corporate Secretary of PT Elnusa Tbk, Rustam Aji, emphasized that this success reflects domestic technological capabilities in addressing complex challenges in the energy sector. According to him, this innovation proves that strong synergy can deliver high-value-added solutions for national energy security.
Moving forward, the successful experience in the Rama Field is expected to be replicated in other oil and gas fields across Indonesia. This step is part of Elnusa's ongoing commitment to strengthening the upstream oil and gas industry through technology development and operational efficiency.
