Commission I of the Pekanbaru City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) conducted another sudden inspection (sidak) at several nightlife centers in the early hours of Friday (26/6). This step was taken to ensure business compliance with Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 3 of 2002, which sets the maximum operating limit until 22:00 WIB.
In a joint operation involving the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the police, and military (TNI) personnel, the team found that several locations, such as GenZ Club Pub & KTV, Empire 80 Lounge & KTV, and HW Live House, were still serving visitors long past the designated operating hours. Specifically at HW Live House, the atmosphere appeared more crowded due to a musical entertainment performance, which had previously raised public doubts regarding the continuity of the event.
Chairman of Commission I of the Pekanbaru DPRD, Robin Eduar, expressed his disappointment over the repeated behavior of entertainment business owners. Although the police conducted random urine tests on visitors with all results returning negative for narcotics, the crucial point regarding operating hour discipline remains a serious note for the council.
Responding to these findings, the Head of Pekanbaru City Satpol PP, Desheriyanto, admitted that the phenomenon of curfew violations is almost uniform across the entire entertainment sector. He mentioned that his office would immediately coordinate across agencies, including with the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) and the Tourism Office, to discuss more effective follow-up measures.
Desheriyanto also hinted at the need to evaluate the relevance of Regional Regulation No. 3 of 2002 today, considering the entertainment sector's contribution to investment and employment. Nevertheless, he emphasized that until there is a change in regulations, every business operator is required to comply with the rules currently in force.
