Two young archery athletes from Gresik Regency have successfully achieved outstanding results in the East Java Archery Provincial Championship (Kejurprov) for the under-15 age group. This success brings Mayyaza Humaira A. and Aprilia Dara Cantika to a more prestigious stage, namely the 2026 Junior National Archery Championship (Kejurnas).
Mayyaza Humaira A., a student at SMP Muhammadiyah 12 GKB, successfully brought home a silver medal, while Aprilia Dara Cantika from SMP Negeri 1 Gresik won a bronze medal. Both are trained athletes under the auspices of Petrokimia Gresik, who are intensively coached to hone their technical skills and competitive mentality in the sport of archery.
The ticket to the 2026 Junior National Archery Championship, scheduled to take place on July 21–29, 2026, at the Supersoccer Arena, Kudus, is clear evidence of the quality of athlete development in Gresik. This national event is expected to serve as a benchmark for young athletes, as well as preparation for the upcoming East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) X.
The Chairman of Perpani Gresik, Ari Primantara, appreciated the hard work of all parties involved. Although the management of the archery sports branch in Gresik is relatively new, at around two years old, he is optimistic that consistent training will produce competitive talent on the national stage.
Echoing this sentiment, the Deputy Regent of Gresik, dr. Asluchul Alif, emphasized the important role of sports in shaping the character of the younger generation. He hopes that athlete training is not only oriented toward winning medals but also serves as a platform for positive education for teenagers to avoid negative social influences.
The Gresik Regency Government is committed to continuing to support the development of high-performance sports. They encourage Perpani Gresik to hold more local competitions to scout more potential talents, so that archery can become one of the leading sports branches that brings pride to the region in the future.
