The Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, emphasized the government's commitment to carrying out deep transformations in the organization of the Hajj pilgrimage. During the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) for the Evaluation of the 1447 AH/2026 AD Hajj Pilgrimage, he declared that strengthening the health system and optimizing services in the Mina area are crucial agendas that are non-negotiable.
Although this year's Hajj operations were deemed successful with various positive achievements, the Minister urged all officials not to become complacent. He stressed the need for a systemic evaluation, particularly regarding the refinement of medical indicators and the management of pilgrim logistics in Saudi Arabia. Data shows that although the mortality rate among pilgrims was reduced by up to 25 percent, efforts to strengthen health capabilities (istithaah) must remain a top priority moving forward.
The Minister also highlighted the success of several innovations implemented this season, such as province-based quota management, cost efficiency, and the integration of tracking systems via Nusuk cards. However, these digital instruments will continue to be reviewed to maximize their benefits for pilgrims. Specifically for the Mina area, Irfan Yusuf instructed a comprehensive overhaul to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims at what is considered the most crucial point.
As an internal strengthening measure, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has also scheduled a retreat for civil servants. This step aims to build work resilience, enhance leadership instincts, and foster team solidity under high operational pressure. The Minister concluded the forum by expressing appreciation to all parties, including Hajj organizing personnel (PPIH) as well as military (TNI) and police (Polri) personnel, for their dedication to the success of this year's Hajj operations.
