Jakarta — Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, emphasized the urgency of continuous improvement in national Hajj management. During the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) for the Evaluation of the 1447 H/2026 M Hajj Pilgrimage, he highlighted two crucial sectors requiring serious attention: pilgrim health aspects and the quality of services in Mina.
Although this year's Hajj implementation was deemed to show significant progress with a 25 percent reduction in mortality rates, the government remains committed to minimizing risks further. Irfan stressed that strengthening the istitha'ah (health capability) policy will be the backbone of preparations for the upcoming Hajj season to ensure every pilgrim is in fit physical condition.
In addition to health, improving governance in Mina was a major focus of the evaluation agenda. The Minister stated that all innovations implemented, including the introduction of the Nusuk card and cost efficiency measures, will continue to be refined to guarantee the comfort and safety of pilgrims while in the holy land.
As a strategic step, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah also held a post-working meeting retreat to enhance human resource capacity. This program is designed to strengthen synergy, physical, and mental preparedness of all staff to better face operational challenges in the future.
Concluding his remarks, the Minister expressed appreciation to the ministry officials, PPIH (Hajj Organizing Committee), as well as TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and Polri (National Police) personnel. He hopes this spirit of cross-sectoral collaboration can be maintained to realize a more professional, humane, and high-standard Hajj service for all Indonesian pilgrims.
