The Governor of Central Java, Police Commissioner General (Ret.) Drs. Ahmad Luthfi, S.H., S.St.M.K., officially opened the National Boxing Championship competing for the Central Java Governor's Gold Belt and the Indonesian Boxing Association (ATI) Gold Belt. The event, held at the Sahid Jaya Hotel in Surakarta City on Saturday (4/7/2026), marks the initial milestone in the provincial government's efforts to restore the prestige of boxing in Central Java.

In his address, Governor Ahmad Luthfi emphasized that the intensity of boxing training is highly effective in building disciplined athletes with high sportsmanship. He hopes this event will serve as a catalyst for the emergence of future fighters from Central Java who can excel on both national and international stages.

Furthermore, the Governor encouraged ATI Central Java to forge strategic collaborations with regency and municipal governments to organize regular championships. This strategy is expected to focus not only on athlete development but also to serve as a driver for the sport tourism sector, which is increasingly gaining public interest.

Echoing this sentiment, the Chairperson of DPW ATI Central Java, Asri Purwanti, welcomed the full support from the provincial government. Her side is committed to consolidating with various agencies to revive boxing gyms and identify young athletic talent, given Central Java's historical track record of producing world-class legendary boxers.
