East Kalimantan Governor, Dr. H. Rudy Mas'ud, officially inaugurated the board members of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of East Kalimantan for the 2026–2030 period at Pendapa Odah Etam. During the occasion, the Governor, affectionately known as Harum, delivered firm directions for the new board to boost the achievements of Benua Etam's athletes to the highest national level.

Rudy Mas'ud emphasized the importance of focusing on athlete achievements in the field rather than ceremonial activities by the board. He hopes athletes will dominate the podium across various sports branches, while assuring that the East Kalimantan Provincial Government is fully committed to providing up to 1,000 percent operational support for the development of sports in the region.

An ambitious target has been set by the Governor, namely positioning East Kalimantan as the overall champion or at least reaching the top rank in upcoming national competitions. He specifically highlighted several potential sports such as football, which is targeted to win the championship, maintaining dominance in wrestling, and optimizing performance in swimming and athletics as major medal contributors.

In closing, Rudy expressed his hope that the new KONI board will design a more sustainable and measurable athlete development system. This step is considered crucial for East Kalimantan to maintain its position as a respected powerhouse in the national sports landscape in the future.
