Mount Merapi, located on the border between the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java, showed significant volcanic activity again on Monday (6/7/2026) morning. The Geological Disaster Technology Research and Development Center (BPPTKG) recorded a pyroclastic flow observed at 08:28 WIB.
According to technical data from BPPTKG, the pyroclastic flow traveled 1,700 meters toward the southwest, specifically into the upper sector of the Krasak River. This natural phenomenon lasted for 103.55 seconds with a maximum amplitude of 32.92 millimeters.
Responding to the event, geological authorities urged the public not to conduct any activities in areas within the danger zone. Residents are especially advised to stay away from riverbeds originating on Mount Merapi to avoid the risks of pyroclastic flows and other volcanic materials.
As of this report, Mount Merapi's activity status remains at Level III (Alert/Siaga). The public is urged to remain calm but to continue monitoring official updates and comply with all safety recommendations issued by the authorities.
