Mount Semeru, located in East Java, again demonstrated significant volcanic activity on Friday (19/6) morning. Official reports recorded the eruption occurring at precisely 07:21 WIB, triggering pyroclastic flows extending 4.5 kilometers toward the Besuk Kobokan sector.
To date, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation maintains Mount Semeru's activity status at Level III (Alert). The public and tourists are urged to remain vigilant and strictly comply with the exclusion zone established by the authorities to avoid exposure to volcanic materials.
Responding to the situation, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (BB TNBTS) reiterated that access to the summit of Semeru remains completely closed. Hikers are currently only permitted up to the Ranu Kumbolo area to ensure visitor safety from potential follow-up eruptions.
