Volcanic activity at Mount Semeru showed a significant increase again on Monday (6/7/2026). Based on visual observation reports, the highest mountain on the island of Java spewed a column of volcanic ash approximately 1,000 meters or one kilometer above the crater peak.
The observed volcanic material tended to be gray with thick intensity, leaning towards a certain direction due to the wind. This phenomenon was recorded as part of a series of routine activities of the volcano, which is currently still under strict monitoring by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG).
As of this report, authorities continue to monitor the development of seismic activity around the slope area. The public and tourists are urged to adhere to the established exclusion zone recommendations to ensure personal safety from potential pyroclastic flows and ash fall.
