The pawning business in Indonesia is showing a positive growth trend throughout the mid-2026 period. This is driven by the high value of gold assets in the market, which makes the public prefer pawning instruments to meet urgent cash needs instead of relinquishing ownership of their gold through direct sales.
Although the price of Antam gold experienced a correction from its record peak of IDR 3.19 million per gram last April, price fluctuations in the range of IDR 2.65 million to IDR 2.80 million per gram in June are still considered to be at a very high level compared to the beginning of the year. This price stability provides a significant collateral value for customers at pawnbroking financial institutions.
The demand for gold-based financing is evidence that the public is becoming smarter in managing their financial assets. By pawning gold, customers retain ownership of the asset while gaining access to the liquidity needed for various consumptive and productive purposes.
On the other hand, pawnbroking industry players are now increasingly aggressive in strengthening their services to capture opportunities from high public interest. Market conditions, which remain volatile but high-value, are predicted to continue supporting the performance of the pawnbroking sector until the end of the year, making it one of the main choices for the public in maintaining household cash flow balance.
