The Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University (FK UB) officially introduced its latest health beverage innovation named Deteko. This product is a unique blend combining green tea and green coffee, specifically designed to maintain heart health and serve as a complementary solution for metabolic syndrome sufferers.

The initiator of Deteko, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saifur Rohman, Sp.JP(K), Ph.D., revealed that this product is the fruit of 12 years of dedicated research. As a cardiologist, he was moved to provide a safe functional beverage alternative for the public amidst the high consumption of conventional tea and coffee.

According to Prof. Saifur, metabolic syndrome—characterized by central obesity, hypertension, and cholesterol disorders—is the main gateway to various degenerative diseases. He recommends consuming Deteko twice daily to help reduce blood pressure and clinically lower the risk of heart attacks.

One of Deteko's main advantages is the decaffeination process, or reducing caffeine levels. This technique is applied to prevent the side effect of heart palpitations often experienced by cardiovascular disorder sufferers when consuming regular coffee or tea. Although caffeine is reduced, the nutritional efficacy of the natural ingredients remains optimal.

The safety and efficacy of Deteko have been reinforced through 36 international scientific publications during its development phase. Currently, the product has secured a Home Industry Food (PIRT) permit and is undergoing the registration process with BPOM to ensure quality standards for a broader consumer base.

Seeing this great potential, FK UB is now opening opportunities for collaboration with the tea and coffee industry for product commercialization. Prof. Saifur hopes this innovation can soon be mass-produced and become more accessible to the public through dedicated Deteko outlets in the future.
