The Central Java Provincial Government recorded success in the aquaculture sector after successfully holding a grand harvest of vannamei shrimp in the Wijayakusuma Industrial Area (KIW), Semarang City, on Monday, July 6, 2026. The project, managed by the Tugu Fish Breeding and Aquaculture Center (PBI) of the Central Java Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, was directly inspected by the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi.
This success became the spotlight because the 1,561-square-meter pond was able to operate optimally in the middle of an industrial area. Through the touch of appropriate technology, this location is now projected as a pilot model for modern pond revitalization along the northern coast (Pantura).
Head of the Central Java Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, Endi Faiz Efendi, revealed that the harvest carried out in Plot B3 was the result of an 82-day cultivation cycle. His office targets production to reach 1.3 tons of vannamei shrimp with a standard size of 60 shrimp per kilogram, which has high commercial quality.
To overcome land limitations in the industrial area, this pond implements a closed system that minimizes water intake from the outside. The cultivation process involves strict water treatment stages using dolomite, chlorine, and an aeration system to ensure the pond environment remains sterile and conducive to shrimp growth.
The yield of this grand harvest is prioritized to supply local market needs at a competitive selling price of around Rp60,000 per kilogram. The implementation of this technology is expected to be a concrete solution in supporting food security and increasing the productivity of the aquaculture sector in the Central Java region.
