The atmosphere at the East Field of the Bali People's Struggle Monument (MPRB) in Denpasar was vibrant on Thursday (2/7/2026). Hundreds of students from various corners of Bali gathered to participate in the Bali Tradition Jantra event, a series of traditional sports competitions that form an integral part of the 48th Bali Arts Festival (PKB) in 2026.

This event featured adrenaline-pumping agility challenges, ranging from the Matajog (bamboo stilts) category testing balance, to the Women's Terompah and Men's Hadang competitions emphasizing team cohesion and tactical strategy. The cheers of spectators added to the excitement as participants fought hard along the tracks to secure victory.

Head of the Cultural Heritage Tradition Division at the Bali Provincial Culture Office, I Putu Sutaryana, explained that this activity is more than just a showcase of physical prowess. Carrying the grand theme of PKB XLVIII, Atma Kerthi: Jiwa Sidha Parisudha, this event serves as a medium to instill noble values such as courage, discipline, and cooperation in Bali's younger generation.

Despite the high enthusiasm of participants, Sutaryana acknowledged technical constraints in the form of budget limitations in several regions, which prevented some regencies/cities from sending delegations in every category. Regardless of these constraints, Badung Regency's dominance was clearly visible on the first day, followed by Denpasar City, Buleleng, and Tabanan achieving commendable results.

In addition to the competitions, the event was also enlivened by a demonstration of the Kelik-Kelikan folk game from Sulahan Village, Bangli. Performed by the Suradiva Arts Studio, this presentation served not only as entertainment but also as education on the long history of traditional games born from the local wisdom of the community in facing natural challenges.

The Bali Tradition Jantra series is scheduled to reach its climax on Friday (3/7/2026) with the Men's Deduplak and Women's Hadang categories, which will also mark the conclusion of the traditional sports agenda in this year's PKB.
