Jakarta is now placing human resource development as a top priority in the national digital transformation roadmap. The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) emphasized that technological mastery is an absolute prerequisite for Indonesia to be competitive amidst the increasingly massive escalation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the global stage.
A shift in focus from merely providing physical infrastructure toward empowering digital talent is a strategic step currently being taken by the government. This is done to ensure that the Indonesian nation has innovation independence, so it is not limited to being just users or a market for foreign technology products.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, stated that individual competence is a vital asset in facing the highly dynamic digital acceleration. According to him, the readiness of adaptive and skilled local talent will determine Indonesia's success in navigating both challenges and opportunities in an AI-based future.
