Renowned audio device manufacturer Skullcandy has officially introduced its newest premium wireless headphone line, the Crusher 1080 ANC. This move caught industry attention as Skullcandy partnered with Bose to embed several cutting-edge audio technologies, including an active noise cancellation (ANC) system and a spatial audio feature with precise head tracking.
For a long time, the Crusher series has been widely known for its exceptionally powerful bass characteristics. These headphones use a unique configuration of two types of drivers on each ear cup: a full-range driver and a dedicated low-frequency driver. However, excessive bass boosting often sacrificed overall sound clarity—a classic issue that this collaboration with Bose aims to resolve.
This latest headphone model becomes the first non-Bose device to adopt the TrueSpatial Audio feature complete with head tracking. In addition, the presence of Bose's WaveForm audio engine ensures balanced and smooth sound reproduction, while the SpeechClarity feature helps filter out ambient noise for clearer voice calls.
To minimize distortion at high volumes, Skullcandy also upgraded the hardware sector by using stiffer diaphragm materials. Users retain full control over bass intensity via a mobile app or a physical dial that is designed to be more prominent on the outside of the ear cup. For external noise isolation, the QuietControl ANC technology is powered by six adaptive microphones that instantly respond to changes in ambient noise.
