The newly elected General Chair of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) for East Kalimantan Province, H. Anderiy Syachrum, S.T., held a strategic meeting with the General Chair of Central KONI, Ret. Lt. Gen. Marciano Norman, at the Central KONI Office in Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2026). This audience marked the first agenda following Anderiy's acclamation at the Provincial Sports Conference (Musorprov) for the 2026-2030 term.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the inauguration plan for the new board and the synchronization of short- and long-term work programs. Marciano Norman emphasized that East Kalimantan possesses strong assets, both in terms of athletic talent and policy support from the local Provincial Government. He expressed optimism that under new leadership, East Kalimantan could innovate its governance to significantly impact athlete performance on the national stage.

Addressing upcoming sporting preparations, First Vice Chair of Central KONI, Ret. Maj. Gen. Dr. Suwarno, stressed the urgency of preparing for the 22nd National Sports Week (PON XXII/2028), to be co-hosted by East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara. According to him, mapping athletes based on qualification round results is a critical key action that the current East Kalimantan KONI board must immediately execute.

Furthermore, Suwarno reminded that all supporting aspects of athlete preparation must be finalized early. Synergy between the KONI board, the Provincial Government, and all sports stakeholders in East Kalimantan is expected to form a solid foundation for building a sustainable development system to produce high-performing athletes capable of bringing honor to the region at both national and international levels.
