The Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) of South Sumatra Province has provided strong encouragement to the new management of KORMI Prabumulih City. This organization is expected to transform into a strategic partner of the Prabumulih City Government in mainstreaming sports culture as a healthy lifestyle for all levels of society.
This hope was expressed by the Secretary of KORMI South Sumatra, Eko Agus Sugianto, representing the Chairperson of KORMI South Sumatra, Samantha Tivani Herman Deru. According to Eko, KORMI's role goes beyond merely overseeing various Sports Organization Parent bodies (Inorga). The organization bears a heavy responsibility to create a society that is not only active but also productive through regular and structured physical activity.
A solid synergy between KORMI management and the local government is seen as the key to success in popularizing sports. Eko emphasized that this collaboration is crucial to ensure that every work program designed can reach the wider community, making sports a primary need in every line of life for the residents of Prabumulih.
On the other hand, the new management of KORMI Prabumulih has also been asked to begin formulating strategic steps toward the upcoming KORMI South Sumatra Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in 2026. The event is scheduled to be held in Muara Enim Regency in November and will feature 49 Inorga disciplines.
Participation in Porprov is seen not merely as a competition to achieve accolades, but as a crucial medium to promote the potential and development of community sports in Prabumulih City. KORMI South Sumatra is optimistic that with thorough preparation, Prabumulih will be able to make a positive contribution to the provincial-level community sports festival.
