Guntur Surawijaya, a fourth-semester student of the Data Science Study Program at Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), is currently in the spotlight after being appointed as the Chair of the IEEE Student Branch (SB) UNM. In addition to leading this global technology organization, he has also been selected as a Track-Wise Support Volunteer for the international IEEE YESIST12 (Youth Endeavours for Social Innovation using Sustainable Technology) Grand Finale 2026.
Guntur's journey in the world of technology and organization did not happen overnight. Backed by an independent spirit forged since his high school days at SMKN 39 Jakarta, he has actively honed his coordination and leadership skills through various student organizations. His steps into the professional world have grown more mature after participating in a series of competency acceleration programs, such as the Digital Talent Scholarship and data science training from various leading industry platforms.
Guntur's deep interest in the field of Data Science pushed him to continuously seek self-development opportunities. For him, joining the IEEE Student Branch UNM serves as a main gateway to interact with the international technology community while sharpening his managerial skills. His leadership is now expected to broaden the horizons of collaboration for other fellow students on campus.
This success also received high appreciation from the academic side. Tati Mardiana, Head of the UNM Data Science Study Program, assessed that Guntur's footsteps represent a real portrait of the graduate profile the university aims to shape. She emphasized that the synergy between academic excellence, organizational experience, and involvement in global networks is the key to producing competitive digital talent.
The IEEE YESIST12 Grand Finale 2026 itself is scheduled to take place on October 2–3, 2026, at the BSI Convention Center. Guntur's presence on the event's committee serves as proof that UNM students possess the capacity to contribute directly to technological innovations with a broad impact, in line with the university's vision of turning dreams into real achievements.
