The Blok M area in South Jakarta is once again reaffirming its position as a primary magnet for youth lifestyle. The popularity of this area, known for its aesthetic and viral cafes on social media, has now become a strategic foundation for hosting the 'Glamlocal' fashion bazaar event. The choice of location at Pasaraya Blok M aims to capture the enthusiasm of urban society while driving the economic wheels of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Glamlocal Project Manager, Ditto Avelino, revealed that their presence in Blok M is an effort to test the area's visitor traffic power. Despite national economic pressures, public enthusiasm remains well-maintained. This bazaar serves as a crucial medium for brands that previously operated online-only to interact directly with their loyal customers.
The event, scheduled to run until July 5, 2026, features 124 MSME participants with a total of 132 brands offering a variety of products ranging from clothing and accessories to beauty products. Located in the mezzanine area of Pasaraya, the bazaar's atmosphere appears lively with active interaction between sellers and buyers from various regions, including shoppers from outside Jakarta who deliberately came to shop in person.
The main attraction of this bazaar lies in its pricing, which is far more competitive than digital platforms, with discounts ranging from 20 to 70 percent. This phenomenon also creates opportunities for personal shoppers (jastipers). One personal shopper, Adrian Azwar Sugian, noted that the significant price difference between online purchasing and offline buying at the bazaar is why the personal shopper profession remains prospective amid modern shopping trends.
The presence of this bazaar is not merely a buying and selling event, but an effective strategy to strengthen the existence of local brands amidst economic challenges. Combining an iconic location, deep discounts, and personal physical interaction, Glamlocal strives to keep the pulse of retail trade stable and appealing to urban communities.
