Facing the tough competition of the 2026/2027 season, Persebaya Surabaya has taken a progressive step by adopting world-class sports science technology, VALD Performance. This strategic move was taken to objectively monitor the players' physical condition, minimize injury risks, and enhance the performance of the Bajol Ijo squad on the pitch.
Persebaya CEO Azrul Ananda emphasized that this investment is part of the club's long-term commitment to building a professional football ecosystem. The development of gym facilities and the integration of data analysis devices have been designed in stages since last year, in collaboration with Persebaya Academy and DBL Indonesia to ensure players receive proper medical and fitness care.
The process of integrating this technology is being carried out comprehensively. Persebaya Chief Medical Officer, dr. Pratama Wicaksana Widjaja, Sp.OT(K), explained that every player must undergo a series of multidisciplinary examinations. The data generated by the VALD system then becomes the primary reference for physical and technical coaches in crafting individualized training programs.
The system relies on at least five main devices: ForceDecks to measure explosive power and muscle balance, and ForceFrame to monitor crucial muscle strength such as thighs and shoulders. Additionally, there is the NordBord device to maintain hamstring strength, HumanTrak capable of visually dissecting movement quality, and devices measuring aerobic capacity and agility through the T-Test and Bronco Test.
Persebaya's boldness in integrating this cutting-edge technology positions them as pioneers in the country. With an accurate database, management is optimistic that the team's foundation will become much more solid, not only to pursue short-term targets in Liga 1, but also for the sustainability of the club's performance in the future.
