Efficiency efforts in the electricity sector are now a top priority to support national energy sustainability. EVNNPC, an electricity service provider operating across 17 provinces in Northern Vietnam, recorded a significant achievement by reducing its power loss rate to 3.54% in 2025. This figure represents an all-time low following a consistent decline over the past five years, aligning with government directives to optimize energy use.

Challenging geographical conditions, including mountainous terrains and remote areas with wide distribution radii, pose distinct operational hurdles for the company. EVNNPC Deputy General Director Vu Anh Phuong revealed that such terrain characteristics often cause uneven grid loads and increase the risk of technical losses compared to urban areas.

To address these constraints, EVNNPC shifted its paradigm from manual management to data-driven governance. Heavy investments in remote electronic metering systems and digital data management platforms enable real-time monitoring of electricity distribution. This technology facilitates the precise identification of anomalies and disruptions at substations or transmission lines.

In addition to a centralized monitoring system, the company integrated state-of-the-art equipment such as thermal cameras and partial discharge monitoring tools to detect potential network damage before it occurs. This proactive approach not only reduces technical risks but also directly contributes to enhancing the reliability of energy supply for residents in the Northern region.

Despite showing positive trends, EVNNPC emphasized the importance of policy support and sustainable resource allocation from local governments. Synergy in land clearance and grid infrastructure upgrades in remote areas is expected to be key to maintaining power supply stability and supporting future national economic growth.
