Padang Municipal Water Company (Perumda Air Minum) officially commenced the repair project for the accelerator building at the Gunung Pangilun Water Treatment Plant (WTP) on Tuesday (7/21/2026). This strategic step was taken as a post-disaster infrastructure recovery effort, while also re-optimizing the quality of clean water processing for customer communities.
The accelerator building plays a vital role in the filtration system as it integrates three main processes: coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation into a single unified system. Functional disruptions due to post-disaster damage require a comprehensive repair so that the quality of distributed water returns to its maximum level.
President Director of Perumda Air Minum Padang, Hendra Pebrizal, explained that this rehabilitation project is a government assistance program executed by PT Hutama Karya. The infrastructure work is estimated to take approximately four weeks.
During the repair process, the clean water supply in the central area of Padang City will undergo flow adjustments by region. To anticipate the impact on customers experiencing total outages, Perumda has deployed a fleet of water tank trucks.
Affected residents can request clean water assistance through the Call Center service at 150030 during working hours or via direct message to the official Instagram account of Perumda Air Minum Padang. Management apologizes for this temporary inconvenience for the sake of long-term service reliability.
