The 50th North Sumatra Fair (PRSU) was officially opened by the Vice Governor of North Sumatra, Surya, at the main stage area on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Medan, on Friday (3/7/2026) night. This golden milestone was emphasized not merely as an entertainment stage for the public, but as a strategic space designed to attract investment while promoting regional potential to a broader level.

In his speech, Surya highlighted that this year's event is an important historical milestone for the development of North Sumatra. He emphasized that the PRSU serves as a showcase bringing together various crucial sectors, ranging from trade, technology, innovation, to human resource development. Active collaboration from regency and city governments across North Sumatra is the main key in efforts to create new economic growth hubs at the provincial level.

The North Sumatra Provincial Government itself remains committed to strengthening the regional foundation through sustainable infrastructure development and optimizing the sports sector as an industry. This step is expected to deliver tangible economic impacts for the community, beyond the 31-day duration of the event running until August 2, 2026.

President Director of PT Pembangunan Prasarana Sumatera Utara (PPSU), Ferry Indra, added that this golden edition targets up to 300,000 visitors. All regencies and cities have prepared exhibition spaces to showcase MSME products, investment opportunities, and their respective creative economy riches. One of the main highlights this year is a promotion program for North Sumatra's signature coffee aimed at strengthening export competitiveness in the international market.

The opening ceremony was also attended by important officials, including Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ade Jona Prasetyo, representatives from the Ministry of Creative Economy, as well as regional heads from various areas in North Sumatra. By featuring three main stage areas, the 50th PRSU is expected to become an educational and cultural preservation space capable of strengthening social interaction while significantly driving regional economic growth.
