The Provincial Government of North Sumatra officially opened the 50th North Sumatra Fair (PRSU) in the Jalan Gatot Subroto area, Medan, on Friday (3/7/2026). This grand event was directly opened by the Vice Governor of North Sumatra, Surya, attending on behalf of Governor Bobby Nasution.
In his speech, Surya emphasized that this year's event, themed "Golden Harmony", is not merely a popular entertainment festival. The theme is interpreted as a symbol of the diversity of North Sumatra's people, synergized with a strong determination to achieve progress from the national to international levels.
"PRSU is a showcase for our cultural wealth, MSME potential, and human resource quality. We want this event to serve as a catalyst for investment growth, the tourism sector, and the creative economy, delivering tangible and sustainable impacts for the wider community," Surya said.
Furthermore, Surya added that North Sumatra is currently undergoing a new chapter of development transformation. This is evident from the region's success in hosting various national and international sporting events, which has positively impacted the region's image.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Pembangunan Prasarana Sumatera Utara (PPSU), Ferry Indra, explained that the event, running until August 2, 2026, features 33 pavilions from regencies/cities as well as a special participation from Penang. The presence of MSME booths and government partners is expected to strengthen inter-regional collaboration.
Ferry expressed his appreciation to all parties, including the provincial and regency/city governments, for the established synergy. He expressed optimism that through this exhibition, regional potential can be more widely exposed while strengthening the foundation of the creative economy in North Sumatra.
