The Bogor Regency Government is finalizing plans for the construction of a cable car system connecting the Summarecon area in Sukaraja District with the Gunung Mas Rest Area in Puncak. This innovative step is being taken as a long-term solution to relieve chronic traffic congestion that frequently plagues the main tourist route.
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto revealed that this ambitious project is currently entering the feasibility study phase. In addition, the local government has begun intensive communications with several potential investors to realize this tourism infrastructure.
The concept proposed for this project integrates parking areas with mass transit. The lower station located in the Summarecon area will function as a park-and-ride facility. Thus, tourists can park their private vehicles before continuing their journey using the cable car to the final station at the Gunung Mas Rest Area.
Regarding funding, Rudy emphasized that this large-scale project will not burden the Bogor Regency Regional Budget (APBD). Given the estimated budget requirements reaching trillions of rupiah, the local government is relying entirely on private sector investment schemes.
Although the basic concept and route have been determined, details regarding the total investment value, construction timeline, and target operational dates of the cable car are still awaiting the results of the ongoing comprehensive study. The presence of this transportation mode is expected to reduce tourists' dependence on private vehicles and strengthen tourism integration in the Bogor area.
