The Mimika Regency Government, through the Youth and Sports Office (Dispora), has officially provided social security protection for all student athletes competing in the 2026 Multi-Event and Single-Event series. This strategic step was officially inaugurated at the Timika Futsal Stadium on Wednesday (08/07/2026) as a form of government care for the safety of young athletes from elementary to high school/vocational school levels.
The symbolic presentation of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership was carried out directly by the Regent of Mimika, Johanes Rettob, together with the Head of the Mimika Regency Dispora, Yohanis M. Yanwarin. This initiative covers comprehensive protection for athletes during the entire series of matches, ranging from Work Accident Insurance (JKK) to Death Benefits (JKM).
The Head of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Papua Mimika Branch Office, Andhika Catur Putra, highly appreciated the commitment of the Mimika Regency Government. He assessed that this social security protection is an important instrument so that student athletes can focus more on achieving accomplishments without having to worry about physical risks that may arise during competition.
Furthermore, this collaboration between the Mimika Regency Government and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is expected to inspire other agencies in organizing activities. This synergy is seen as a tangible investment in human resource development in the sports sector, as well as an effort to expand social security coverage for all levels of society in the Mimika region.
