The Sinjai Regency Government has demonstrated a serious commitment to improving the quality of athlete development and sports infrastructure in its region. The Regent of Sinjai, Hj. Ratnawati Arif, personally led a working visit to the office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2026) to establish strategic coordination.
During the visit, the Regent was accompanied by a delegation of technical officials, including the Head of Bappeda, the Head of Dispora, the Head of Diskominfo, and the Chairman of KONI Sinjai. The meeting aimed to optimize central government support for the development of the sports sector in Bumi Panrita Kitta, specifically through accelerating the implementation of the Regional Sports Design (DOD).
The Head of the Sinjai Communication, Information, and Coding Office, Hasir Ahmad, stated that the main discussion included the synchronization of policies between the National Sports Grand Design (DBON) and regional potential. The Sinjai DOD, projected up to 2045, comprises five main pillars: community sports, educational sports, performance sports, disability sports, and the development of the sports industry and tourism.
The Chairman of KONI Sinjai, Rahman, welcomed the initiative. In his view, this collaboration is a crucial momentum to upgrade training support facilities, ensuring local athletes can train with adequate and highly competitive facilities at both national and international levels.
As a follow-up step, the Head of the Sinjai Youth and Sports Office, Dr. Mansyur, emphasized his department's commitment to immediately finalize the legal framework in the form of a Regent's Regulation. This regulation will serve as the formal basis for DOD operations, as well as the primary administrative requirement for proposing facilities and infrastructure assistance from the central government.
