The Deputy Regent of North Central Timor (TTU), Kamillus Elu, officially opened the scientific seminar titled 'The First Timor Health Update' organized by the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) TTU Branch at the Livero Hotel, Kefamenanu, on Saturday (11/7/2026). This forum serves as a strategic platform for medical personnel from the TTU, Belu, South Central Timor (TTS), and Malaka regions to exchange knowledge regarding disease management in resource-limited areas.
With the theme 'Advancing Early Detection, Diagnosis and Disease Management in Rural and Resource Limited Settings', this event emphasizes the importance of healthcare workers adapting to the increasingly dynamic developments in medical science. In his speech, Kamillus Elu expressed high appreciation to the IDI TTU Branch for consistently facilitating the competency development of medical personnel to provide safe and standards-based health services to the public.
Kamillus highlighted that healthcare workers in rural areas often face accessibility challenges regarding continuing education. Therefore, he considers this seminar a crucial solution to update clinical skills while strengthening interprofessional collaboration in mitigating health risks in the field. Additionally, the event also featured a tribute to the late dr. Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni from Kefamenanu Regional General Hospital (RSUD) for her dedication during her service.
The TTU Regency Government hopes that all participants will not only absorb the material but also be able to implement these best practices in their daily duties. With continuous competence improvement, it is hoped that the healthcare service system in remote areas will become more resilient, while improving the overall health status of the community.
