The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, officially inaugurated two senior high-level officials within the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) on Friday (10/7/2026). Suyadi Parwiro was appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Sesmenpora), while Teuku Arlan Perkasa Lukman was sworn in as the Deputy for Sports Industry Development.
In his directive, Erick Thohir emphasized the importance of a paradigm shift in viewing sports in the country. He stressed that this sector should not only be seen as a cost center, but must be able to transform into a national revenue center through the development of the sports industry and sport tourism.
Suyadi Parwiro, who previously built his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed his commitment to implementing bureaucratic reform within Kemenpora. He targets the acceleration of public services and the improvement of human resource capacity as top priorities to serve the sports community more efficiently.
On the other hand, Teuku Arlan Perkasa Lukman, who was selected through an open recruitment process, committed to engaging the private sector in managing assets and organizing various sporting events. This step is expected to reduce dependence on the state budget while making the sports industry a strategic investment for the future of national achievement.
This inauguration is part of Kemenpora's strategic steps to strengthen its organizational structure. It is hoped that the synergy between improving internal governance and optimizing the sports industry can have a tangible impact on the development of athletic talent and the welfare of the wider community.
