The Mimika Regency Government, Central Papua, is committed to expanding the reach of medical services for the community. Through the local Health Office, the regional government is preparing to carry out construction projects for several new Community Health Centers (Puskesmas) along with official residences for healthcare workers in various strategic locations.
This healthcare infrastructure project is designed not only for urban areas but also targets remote coastal and mountainous regions. The Head of the Mimika Health Office, Godfried Maturbongs, explained that the project is currently in the review phase of planning documents with consultants before entering the physical construction phase.
The document review step is considered crucial to align the 2025 budget allocation with real conditions on the ground. This adjustment includes recalculating the rising prices of construction materials and current technical needs, ensuring that the state budget is used efficiently and effectively.
To ensure transparency and prevent potential irregularities, the Mimika Health Office is also collaborating with the local State Attorney's Office (Kejaksaan Negeri) for legal assistance. This synergy is expected to minimize administrative errors that could risk state financial losses, allowing the construction of health facilities to proceed smoothly.
