A research team from the Informatics Department of the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) at Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) has successfully designed an innovative Business Intelligence (BI) system to support the new student admission process. The presence of this technology aims to shift conventional decision-making methods that often rely on intuition to more accurate and measurable data-driven ones.

Until now, university management has often faced complex challenges related to admission dynamics. Several crucial decisions, such as determining passing thresholds, allocating admission quotas, and setting registration deadlines, demand policies that are both rapid and targeted.

Informatics Lecturer at FTI UII, Kholid Haryono, explained that the main obstacle policy makers often face is poorly integrated data distribution. Through research based on Action Design Research (ADR), the research team successfully mapped 20 types of admission decisions as well as four main decision-making models commonly used in campus environments.

This new system has undergone a series of multi-layered evaluations, from the Alpha to Delta stages, involving university leaders and department heads. Final test results showed that all 31 system features functioned optimally, achieving a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 84.4, which falls into the excellent category.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Informatics Department at FTI UII, Raden Teduh Dirgahayu, emphasized that the implementation of this system is a strategic investment for the quality of institutional governance. The formulation of the 12 design principles resulting from this research is expected to serve as an adaptive guide for other universities in Indonesia to transform their admission systems to be more accountable.
