The Indonesian National Police (Polri) is taking strategic steps to revamp its internal education system in order to create human resources that are more professional, possess integrity, and are responsive to global dynamics. This reform focuses on integrating Human Rights (HAM) principles and mastering cutting-edge technology, such as artificial intelligence and big data analysis.
Deputy Chief of National Police Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo emphasized that this curriculum transformation is scheduled to take effect in 2027. This policy will be implemented comprehensively, covering basic training to career development across various units, ranging from NCOs (Bintara), Mobile Brigade (Brimob), Marine Police (Polair), to intelligence. This step represents the institution's adjustment to the mandate of Law Number 5 of 2026 and the direction of modern police reform.
As a concrete implementation, Polri has inaugurated Thematic Classes at the Police Academy (Akpol) and the Police Social Science Laboratory. These facilities are designed as more practical learning tools, where cadets can practice evidence-based policing by utilizing digital technology. A similar learning concept is planned to be adopted by all Regional Police Forces (Polda) across Indonesia, tailored to the specific needs of each region.
Dedi added that this shift in education methods is crucial given that the current generation of Polri personnel is highly familiar with the digital ecosystem. In addition to the academy level, Polri is also preparing a Digital Leadership Laboratory at the Staff and Leadership School (Sespim) to train future leaders in processing data to produce precise and efficient policies.
The educational transformation carried out by Polri is not merely an academic formality, but a major agenda to ensure that every police officer is capable of prioritizing respect for human rights while addressing modern security challenges. By strengthening digital competency and humanistic character, Polri hopes to improve the quality of public services to be more transparent and accountable in the future.
