President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has officially signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 12 of 2026, which regulates the awarding of honors in the field of sports. This regulation is designed as a formal reference for showing appreciation to athletes, sports figures, government agencies, the private sector, and individuals who are deemed to have made significant contributions and achieved success in advancing the nation's sports sector.
General Chair of the Central National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI), Retired Lieutenant General Marciano Norman, welcomed the issuance of the regulation. He expressed deep respect and appreciation to President Prabowo and the Minister of Youth and Sports for the government's serious attention to the dedication of national sports fighters.
Marciano emphasized that athletes, coaches, officials, and organization administrators are true patriots who dedicate their lives to bringing honor to the nation's name. According to him, the success of athletes in raising the Red and White flag on the international stage is a form of national dignity that can capture the world's attention to Indonesia's greatness.
Following up on the President's attention, Marciano invited all sports stakeholders in Indonesia—including Provincial KONI, IKN (New Capital) KONI, and all sports federation headquarters—to boost their spirit of development and training. This step is expected to serve as momentum to achieve the "Indonesia Emas" (Golden Indonesia) target and support the success of the 4th Asta Cita initiated by President Prabowo.
