The Banda Aceh City Government has officially initiated steps to organize the former Keudah Terminal area to optimize the potential of this strategic land in the city center. This initial step is focused on land clearing to make the area more representative and highly attractive to prospective investors.
The Head of the Banda Aceh City Transportation Department, Syaifuddin Ambia, explained that planning for this area has actually been initiated since 2015 with a mixed-use land concept. Based on the initial plan, this 11,717-square-meter area is projected to feature a seven-story building, including a terminal on two underground floors, as well as a shopping center and hotel on the upper floors.
In addition to being a business center, this location is also designed as an integrated transportation hub. Eventually, the former Keudah Terminal will function as the main transit point for public transportation and feeder services to support the smooth mobility of residents across various corners of Banda Aceh City.
While waiting for the right investment partner to realize this long-term plan, the Banda Aceh City Government will fence this area and temporarily convert it into a public open space. This open area can later be utilized by the community for various creative activities and micro-businesses that have a direct impact on the local economy.
Ambia added that the former Keudah Terminal has a very high investment value due to its highly strategic position. The area directly faces the scenic Krueng Aceh river, is located near the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, and is closely connected to the Peunayong commercial center, making it a golden prospect for future urban development.
