The Central Java Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) is intensifying efforts to eradicate drug abuse in the Cilacap Regency area. Over the past weekend, specifically from June 27 to 28, 2026, a joint team from Central Java BNNP and Cilacap BNNK conducted unannounced inspections at four nightlife venues and other crowded centers.
The operation, which lasted from late night to the early hours of the morning, was part of a series of events commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (HANI) 2026. These preventive and repressive measures were carried out as a tangible manifestation of BNN's commitment to narrowing the space for illicit drug trafficking in public spaces.
Head of Central Java BNNP, Police Brigadier General Dr. H. Agus Rohmat, emphasized that firm action in the field aims to create a deterrent effect for users while ensuring nightlife venues are not abused as dens for drug transactions. He stressed that his agency will continue to dynamically conduct similar operations in locations deemed high-risk.
During the operation, officers conducted identity checks and random urine tests on 124 visitors present at the locations. As a result, nine people tested positive for illicit substances, with one person indicated for methamphetamine use and eight others positive for benzodiazepines.
Police Grand Commissioner Henry Julius Pardomuan, Head of the Eradication and Intelligence Division of Central Java BNNP, stated that all individuals detained are currently secured to undergo further assessment and investigation. The agency remains committed to increasing the intensity of surveillance to protect the public from the threat of narcotics.
