The Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) of South Kalimantan Province officially has a new leader. The Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Province, H. M. Syarifuddin, was inaugurated as the Chairman of KORMI South Kalimantan for the 2026–2031 term in a solemn ceremony held at the Grand Qin Hotel, Banjarbaru, on Saturday (11/7/2026).
The inauguration ceremony for the 81 new board members was led directly by the General Chairman of National KORMI, Adil Hakim. In a mandate read by the Acting Assistant for General Administration of the South Kalimantan Regional Secretariat, H. Adi Santoso, the Governor of South Kalimantan, H. Muhidin, emphasized the important role of KORMI in encouraging the community to make sports a lifestyle in order to build a healthy and productive region.
In his speech, Syarifuddin championed the spirit of "working together, embracing all" as the main foundation of his leadership. He emphasized that inclusive collaboration with the local government, district/city KORMI administrators, and all Parent Sports Organizations (INORGA) is the key to success in advancing recreational sports in Banua.
As an initial strategic step, KORMI South Kalimantan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tourism Office and the Education and Culture Office. This synergy aims to integrate the community sports agenda into the regional tourism calendar, which is expected to boost the growth of the *sport tourism* sector in South Kalimantan.
Moving forward, the new leadership will focus on preparing for the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) as a warm-up and athlete selection event for the National Recreational Sports Festival (FORNAS). Syarifuddin hopes for full support from all stakeholders so that South Kalimantan's recreational sports achievements can continue to rise on the national stage.
