The Party School is no longer seen as a mere formality; instead, it has transformed into a crucible to forge cadres ideologically, mentally, and intellectually to remain grounded in the values of Pancasila.
The concept, initiated by Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri, aims to shift the party's paradigm from a mere crowd of masses to a vanguard. Through a system of ideological meritocracy, the Party School breaks the chain of dependence on financial capital or political transactions in the candidate recruitment process. This ensures that strategic positions are filled by those who truly understand the direction of the party's struggle.
The educational methods applied are both unique and highly disciplined. All participants, regardless of their social status or prior positions, are required to live in dormitories with basic facilities. By stripping away worldly attributes and living together in barracks, the cadres are forced to set aside their personal egos, fostering esprit de corps and empathy for the lives of the grassroots they represent.
The curriculum is highly comprehensive, covering historical ideological pillars, pro-people governance, and the instillation of anti-corruption integrity. Law enforcement agencies such as the KPK and BPK are frequently involved to provide insights into corruption-prone areas, while the primary focus remains directed at the courage to make policies that favor the marginalized (marhaen).
As an instrument of political modernization, the Party School serves as the main filter against pragmatic politicians or political turncoats. By making educational certification an absolute prerequisite for candidacy, PDI Perjuangan proves that political parties are indeed political education institutions responsible for ensuring that leadership succession remains aligned with constitutional ideals and public welfare.
