Security forces and a joint team in Bondowoso Regency, East Java, are currently on standby following reports of a missing pair of hikers in the Mount Piramid area, Curahdami District. The two reportedly have not returned by the designated time after previously leaving to climb the mountain, which is famous for its extreme trails.

Suspicions that the two hikers are lost grew stronger after residents of Tegal Tengah Hamlet found a red Yamaha NMax motorcycle with license plate number P-2938-ES. The two-wheeled vehicle was left by the unidentified male and female couple in the residential area of RT 17 RW 04 on Sunday (2/8/2026) at around 07:00 WIB.

Until now, authorities along with local volunteers continue to coordinate to gather preliminary information and trace the identity of the vehicle's owner. If the whereabouts of the two hikers remain unclear in the near future, a full-scale search and rescue (SAR) operation will be launched immediately to comb the Mount Piramid climbing route.
