Shanghai Disneyland has consolidated its position as Disney's most profitable international theme park unit. Since its opening a decade ago, the theme park has contributed over $500 million in operating profit, a figure that underscores the company's success in aligning entertainment experiences with local audience preferences in China.

Although Disneyland Paris has historically recorded higher total revenues, Shanghai Disneyland excels in profit efficiency. This success is driven by a strategic approach involving the integration of highly popular attractions, including the opening of the Zootopia-themed area, which successfully attracted widespread visitor interest.

Recent data shows a positive trend with a 5% increase in attendance in 2024, reaching 14.7 million visitors. This achievement makes Shanghai Disneyland the fifth most visited family tourist destination in the world.

Seeing the vast potential for further growth, Disney management has stated its commitment to expanding the location. Future development plans include building a new hotel and adding innovative rides to maintain the park's appeal and relevance amidst increasingly dynamic global market competition.
