The Jember Regency Government, through the Infrastructure and Spatial Planning (ITR) Task Force, conducted a sudden inspection in the Gunung Sadeng mining area, Puger District. The inspection revealed shocking facts regarding rampant operational violations committed by mining companies in the region.
Based on the collected data, 21 companies were recorded conducting exploration activities. However, only seven companies were found to hold official legal permits. The rest operated with expired permits or even without any valid licensing documents.
In addition to licensing issues, the Task Force also highlighted the significant loss to the Regional Original Income (PAD) of Jember Regency due to arrears in Non-Metal Mineral and Rock (MBLB) taxes. From January to June 2026, the accumulated tax arrears of these non-compliant companies reached IDR 1.6 billion.
Two large entities became the main focus of these findings: PT Imasco Tambang Raya with tax arrears reaching IDR 900 million, and PT Pertama Mina Sutra Perkasa, which recorded arrears of IDR 495 million. The latter's Mining Business License (IUP) had expired since June 2025.
In response to this, the ITR Task Force emphasized that all mining activities by companies with expired permits must be halted immediately. The Jember Regency Government is currently coordinating with the relevant Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) to take further law enforcement measures to ensure spatial compliance and recover regional financial rights.
